What are Teach for Virginia Loans?

Teach for Virginia Student Loans are low-cost, low-interest Stafford Loans available to students who commit to a career in teaching in Virginia.

New for Academic Year 2006-2007, students can benefit from zero origination fees and a 10% loan credit. This is in addition to other money-saving benefits your Care for Virginia lender may offer.*

Qualified students are:

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a Virginia school; and
  • Take out a Stafford Loan with a participating Sallie Mae lender brand or lender partner.

Applying for a Teach for Virginia Student Loan

Your school will determine your financial aid package, including the amount of subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans you can receive. This will be based on the information you submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you have not already submitted a FAFSA, you can complete one online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

To apply for a Teach for Virginia Stafford Loan, contact your school's financial aid office; let them know you would like to use one of the following lenders:
