In order to receive Stafford and PLUS loan funds, every borrower must complete a promissory note. If this is the first loan you have received since Summer of 2004 at JSU, both student and parent must complete entrance counseling and a new promissory note. Stafford and PLUS funds can not be disbursed until a valid promissory note is received.

JSU has partnered with Sallie Mae to provide an online process for completing promissory notes and e-signing via the web. JSU encourages both student and parent borrowers to take advantage of the online process for faster processing.

Once borrowers have successfully completed the promissory note and electronically signed, an e-mail will be sent to the address provided as confirmation that the process was successfully completed. If a confirmation is not received, borrowers should contact Sallie Mae at 888-272-5543 to inquire as to the status.

Stafford borrowers will be required to complete Entrance Counseling as part of the online process prior to completing the promissory note.

Important: Parent PLUS Loans—the parent must eSign for a PLUS Loan. Loan funds will not be disbursed to JSU until the parent has e-signed using their social security number and birth date.

If you have already accepted your loans at My.JSU you must wait approximately 24 hours for your loan to be certified by JSU before you can complete this process.  Once you have chosen a lender you will continue on to complete the process.  If you receive the following message while attempting to esign your loan, "There are no loans available at this time", please check back the next day.  If after 48 hours, you are still receiving this message, please contact the JSU Financial Aid office at 256-782-5006.
