Welcome to your PLUS Loan Process

New Borrowers

Before you can apply for a loan, you will need to register for a user id and password. You will need the following information:

• Your Social Security Number or your Sallie Mae Account Number
• Your Telephone Number
• Your Zip Code
  
• Your Email Address

Here are the basic steps to follow for the online loan process. The entire process should take approximately 10-15 minutes.

1. Create an id/password and login.

NOTE: If you have already established a User ID on Sallie Mae's Manage Your LoansSM, Your Electronic AwardsSM or Loan Consolidation Web sites, you do not need to create a new account. You can log in to OpenNet® using your existing user ID and password. If you need assistance, then contact us.

2. Select Start A Loan on the Main Menu.
3. Select I Am A Parent, and Start A Federal Parent PLUS Loan.
4. Complete all credit information, including the dependent student information.
5. If approved, you will be prompted to complete the rest of the loan process.
6. Complete the application, including 2 adult references.
7. Electronically sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN).
8. Print the Final Instructions page for your records.
